Governments and Policy

National governments are critical partners in supporting the adoption of EverGreen Agriculture systems. Supportive policies and agricultural research and extension services are significant mechanisms for scaling up in countries around the world. Through the EverGreen Agriculture Partnership, national governments’ capacity and awareness is being built on the benefits of EverGreen Agriculture for farmers and the national economy. National governments such as Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania have policies and national strategies to support the establishment of EverGreen Agriculture systems in their agricultural land. The EverGreen Agriculture Partnership’s Government and Policy community members such as the African Forest Forum are working with policy makers by informing them of gaps and advising them on policy adjustments that could be made to improve the conditions on the livelihoods of the farmers and in the value chains.
